Suspiria di Dario Argento

Horror

1977

Suspiria, co-written with Daria Nicolodi, is in fact the film with which Argento abandoned the classic detective story to embrace the fantastic in the most radical way, going so far as to explode onto the screen a full-color nightmare designed to be an absolute cinematic experience thanks to the power of its images and the fury of its soundtrack. In the film, as we accompany Susy Benner (Jessica Harper) to discover the creepy secrets of the Freiburg dance school, we find ourselves swept up in a maelstrom of shapes, sensations, spaces and sounds that draws its strength from a mixture of innocence and spontaneity far removed from today’s mannerisms. Between dance and witches, supernatural and delirium, Suspiria is still an unrepeatable kaleidoscope of primal emotions. The cast also includes Stefania Casini, Alida Valli, Joan Bennett in her last performance, Flavio Bucci and a young Miguel Bosé.
