STUDIOS
Videa Studios can boast of a glorious tradition.
In fact, it carries on the precious legacy of arthouse cinema crafted with professional meticulousness and artisan passion which was Franco Cristaldi's trademark, and which helped forge Italian cinema's reputation worldwide. It was here, in 1962, that the legendary producer built his Vides Cinematografica studios, where some of the most beloved scenes in Italian cinema were shot.
Filmmakers such as Luchino Visconti, Federico Fellini, Francesco Rosi, Pietro Germi, Gillo Pontecorvo, Sergio Corbucci, Giuseppe Tornatore, Mario Bava, Duccio Tessari, Mario Monicelli and Antonio Pietrangeli filmed masterpieces like Divorce Italian Style, Amarcord, Nuovo cinema Paradiso, And the Ship Sails On, My Son, the Hero, Per amore... per magia, The Mattei Affair, Big Deal on Madonna Street and Ghosts of Rome in the Vides studios.
LA PIAZZA
A permanent town square set of about 1,000m² of a height of 12m for a total of 3,000m² of façades in a late 19th century architectural style:
Consisting of 8 façades with windows and balconies, some of which accessible, a working fountain, and 5 interior room sets of about 500 m² overlooking the square itself. Depending on requirements, changes can be made to the existing set. In addition, with its ample space for catering and the magical atmosphere it can evoke, the square also makes an elegant location for events of all kinds.
Backlot “Italia”
Covering an area of approx 97,000 ft², with over 100,000 ft² of façades, the set is divided into two sections: a "working class" district, covering 21,528 ft², and a "wealthy" district, covering the remaining 75,348 ft². The backlot also contains many interior sets which can be adapted to any shooting requirements, and which include:
- - An upper-middle-class Italian-style home of 3,229 ft²;
- A shop of 5,382 ft²;
- A working-class house/hovel of 861,12 ft²;
- An 'olde-worlde' shop of 430,56 ft²;
- A workshop of 581,34 ft²;
- Other shops, totaling 1,291.68 ft²;
- Two fully functional fountains.
All the façades faithfully replicate the reality of the neighborhoods of a typical historical Italian city. This external set was used for filming Disney's TV series "The Lions of Sicily", directed by Paolo Genovese.
